CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL MY PLAYERS. YOU ARE WORTHY LEAGUE
CHAMPIONS. A fantastic season culminated in the capture of the league title in terrific style against a gallant Brinklow team at sun drenched Sowe Common. A record crowd had turned up in droves and were treated to an absolute delightful performance which left all of the lucky spectators cheering on, both in admiration and appreciation.
Athletic started in their usual fast manner and were rewarded with an early goal from Bradley Hardwick, who reacted quickest to another great flick-on from Kyle Vincent Squibb off a herculean throw by Marley Villiers to net his 50th goal for the club in only 59 games. Emily Greenway then slipped a great ball through to Bradley who mesmerised his full back before calmly placing the ball into Kofi Staples path for a nice volleyed finish. Kofi was running riot down the left wing and from his neat play, Viraj chipped the goalkeeper for Athletic's 3rd. Bradley ran through to firmly finish his 2nd and the home sides 4th The half time teamtalk was about mainly about enjoying the evening, it's not every night you win the league!. Bradley went in goal 2nd half, Daniel went into midfield and everyone shuffled their position to
make the 2nd half more fun. Mitchell went on a couple of lung busting runs and created goals for Viraj and Daniel Jeffs. Kofi replaced Bradley in goal and Bradley scored 2 more to finish with 4.The defence was expertly marshalled by Ryan Baber, with Kane, Jamie, Aaron and Robert minimalising the opportunities for the away side. Marley was,as he has been all season, a colossus in midfield, here, there and everywhere.Nello had a fine game, anchoring the midfield superbly, and Emily was showing fine control and vision. Athletic have a extremely attacking side but conversly have a miserly defence. With creation, pace and vision in abundance, steel and resolve apparent in all they do, the progress this team has made is astonishing and is beyond all expectations. This has without a doubt, been the most pleasurable team to coach and watch and i'm so proud of all my players. CHAMPIONEES,CHAMPIONEES OLE, OLE, OLE.
